Ending Your Lease

1.Contacting Nihon Zaitaku Management Services

As a rule, you must give advance notice of your intent to end your lease (move out) one month ahead of time.
For example, if you give notice on September 1, 2010, your lease would end on October 1, 2010, at the earliest.
Please remember to contact Nihon Zaitaku Management Services to give notice one month before you plan to move out.

※ How soon you need to give notice depends on the specific terms of your lease agreement.
Before ending your lease, be sure to check your agreement and observe its terms concerning notice.

2.Precautions when ending your lease

  • Once notice has been received, you will be unable to change the date on which your lease ends.
  • Please take care of the following tasks before moving out:
    1. Have Nihon Zaitaku Management Services go through the apartment once all your belongings have been moved out.
    2. Shut off the power, gas, and water by the day you move out and pay off any outstanding balances.
    3. Contact any newspapers to have delivery stopped, the phone company to have your phone number moved to your new residence, and the post office to have your mail forwarded. Don’t wait until the last minute!
  • Tenants are assumed to have forfeited all rights to any belongings left in their apartments after their leases have ended. Such belongings will be removed and disposed of at Nihon Zaitaku Management Service’s discretion. Any expenses or damage incurred in the course of disposing of belongings left in an apartment are the sole responsibility of the tenant.
